Business IT Support Services
Business IT support is the ongoing work of keeping the computers, logins, network and phones your business runs on working, and sorting them out when they don't. We look after that whole set for small and medium businesses, either as an ongoing arrangement or one job at a time.
What counts as IT support
We look after all aspects of IT for your business. If your team uses it to get their work done, it's part of what we do.
It covers keeping an eye on things as much as the fixing. We've got monitoring software keeping an eye on your IT setup all the time, so some jobs get picked up and sorted before anyone in the office notices enough to give us a call. The rest come in as they happen: something's broken, someone's locked out, a new person starts on Monday and needs a laptop and a login.
Most of it gets done over a remote connection, because that's faster for everyone. Some of it has to happen in person, and we come to you for that.
One thing sits outside it: websites. For those, we work with Digital Voice, who built this one.
Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 is where much of your day-to-day work happens: email, calendars, documents, Teams and shared files, on your phone as well as your computer. We can supply your licences, move you across from what you use now, and look after it from then on: adding people when they start, removing them when they leave, and sorting it out when something stops working. Looking after it is part of the support plan. Moving you across is a one-off job.
Office networks and wi-fi
Setting up the network your business runs on: the cabling, the wi-fi, and the box in the cupboard nobody looks at until it breaks. A new network, or rebuilding one you've outgrown, is a job of its own. We put in equipment we've tested and watch it, so faults get picked up early. Keeping it running from then on is part of the support plan.
Phone systems
We set up and look after phone systems that run over the internet instead of an old phone line. A desk phone that stops working is one call to us, the same as the printer. Calls can reach your mobile as well as your desk, with call queues and reporting on how quickly they get answered. Once it's in, looking after it is part of the support plan.
Security
Antivirus and updates, which are part of the support plan, plus a firewall to stop outsiders getting into your network and the protection already built into the tools you pay for, like the email spam filtering in Microsoft 365.
Managed offsite backup for servers and critical systems is a service of its own. If you have it, the plan's monitoring watches it and catches a failed backup.
We'd rather set up what you have properly than sell you another product. If you need more, we'll tell you what and why.
Business computer repairs
We repair business desktops and laptops, usually at your office. You can also drop yours off. Either way, we call you before any work starts, and let you know when it's done.
How the pieces fit together
The network sits underneath almost everything else. Your computers, your phones and your printers all run over the same cabling and wi-fi, so a network you've outgrown is the job to sort before a new phone system goes on top of it.
Microsoft 365 is our main platform. The time to move across is when your email still runs off a server in the office, where one fault can stop everyone's email. It's also when you want your calendar and contacts to sync across your devices, or to work on the same document as someone else at the same time. Once you're on it, some of your security comes with it, waiting to be switched on, like a check on which apps (including AI tools) can get access to your company's email and documents.
Repairs stand on their own. When one computer has stopped and you need it back, that's a repair, whether or not you're on the plan.
What we'll work out with you
- Whether you want someone ongoing, or someone just when things break. These are different arrangements with different shapes, and the answer usually comes down to how much a bad day costs you.
- What you've got. If you're not sure how many machines you've got, how old they are, or which are still under warranty, that's normal. It's one of the first things we write down for you.
- Who holds the keys. Somebody has the administrator access to your email and the rest of your systems. If that person left two years ago, or it's a contractor you've lost touch with, that's worth knowing before it becomes urgent.
- Whether your backup restores. If nobody's checked lately, it's one of the first things we test.
Once your systems are set up, keeping them running day to day is what the support plan is for.
